Watch Gears of War 4 in glorious 4K on PC in a 10 minute demo

Microsoft has released a 10 minute gameplay demo of Gears of War 4 running in 4K (2160p) at Gamescom today. You’ll need a monitor that can display 4K to reap the full benefits, but it can also be viewed in 1080p or lower resolutions.

The demo is from the PC version of Gears of War 4 played with a NVIDIA GTX 1080 GPU, because the Xbox One isn’t capable of native Ultra HD. Although, the Xbox One S will upscale its 1080p signal to 4K when connected to a compatible TV.

It features protagonists JD, Kait and Del chasing an enemy through an old fort. It all goes wrong when they’re confronted by two Swarm enemies — Drones and Pouncers — for the first time.

Xbox Project Scorpio, a more powerful console in the Xbox One family launching in 2017, will be able to support native 4K gaming. Will Gears of War 4 be one of the first games to take advantage of the mid-generation upgrade?
