Xbox quiet as rumours of exclusives on PS5 persist

Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush, Indiana Jones are more are rumoured for PS5.

Xbox has remained quiet as rumours swirl that a number of its first-party titles will be released onto the PS5 and Switch.

In a wave of reports, titles including Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle could become available on the consoles of competitors Sony and Nintendo.

First, Hi-Fi Rush dataminers have uncovered in-game t-shirt designs that suggest the current Xbox and PC exclusive will head to both PS5 and Switch. A blue shirt, reading “I’m here baby!” is thought to represent a PlayStation release, while a red shirt with “Rock out anywhere!” will represent Switch. Both shirts are included in the bundle below.

Next, rumours of a Sea of Thieves multiplatform release have been swirling since last month, with journalist Jeff Grubb making stoking fires.

XboxEra has led the charge with a report that Starfield is being planned for a PS5 release. The outlet cites “sources” that say Starfield will head to Sony’s console after its upcoming Shattered Space expansion.

Finally, The Verge cites a “source familiar with Microsoft’s plans” for whatever is happening at the moment to report that Bethesda is considering releasing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5 alongside Xbox and PC.

Xbox fans on Reddit seem to be in two minds about the reports.

“So what is the point in owning an Xbox if Sony are going to pick them up anyway,” asked Exangambit. “Feel’s like a waste investing so much money into this ecosystem.”

“I become more and more convinced all the time that in 10 years Microsoft gaming will just be Game[ Pass] on multiple different third party devices and the Xbox brand will be a memory,” added bucamel.

Microsoft has yet to comment on any of the rumours; we’ve reached out for comment ourselves. An unsubstantiated rumour has suggested Microsoft’s Sarah Bond will make an announcement later this year that directly addresses the matter of Xbox exclusives on other platforms.
