Next three Call of Duty titles to be released on PlayStation: report

Rest assured, PS5 owners.

The next three Call of Duty releases will head to PlayStation consoles thanks to existing contractual obligations, a new report suggests.

Bloomberg today reports that new releases from Infinity Ward and Treyarch will head to PS4 and PS5 alongside a sequel to the free-to-play Call of Duty Warzone.

In terms of a schedule, Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty title will be released in 2022 — likely a sequel to Modern Warfare — and will then be followed by a 2023 Call of Duty from Black Ops dev Treyarch. It’s unclear when the Warzone sequel will be released.

Call of Duty‘s future on PlayStation remains hazy after Microsoft announced its intentions to acquire Activision Blizzard last week. Speaking about the transaction, Xbox head Phil Spencer said he’d contacted Sony and “confirmed our intent to honour all existing agreements upon acquisition of Activision Blizzard and our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation.”

We’ll have more on the situation as it develops.
