Flight Simulator coming to Xbox Series X & S in July, Top Gun expansion too

A free expansion based on Top Gun: Maverick.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is launching on Xbox Series X and S on 27 July 2021, the publisher revealed during the Xbox and Bethesda E3 showcase, and it will land day one with Game Pass.

As previously suggested, there was no mention of the originally announced Xbox One version, which appears to be cancelled in favour of Flight Simulator being Xbox’s first current-gen exclusive.

It revealed the first gameplay footage of the game running on Xbox Series X hardware, following its PC release last year.

Xbox had another surprise in-store, as alongside the Xbox date, it revealed an upcoming free expansion based on Top Gun: Maverick, the 2021 sequel to the original 1986 film starring Tom Cruise. That will arrive as a free update during the Australian spring, or American fall.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available now on Windows PC and heads to Xbox Series S & X on 27 July.
