Extra PS5 launch day stock isn’t likely, says Jim Ryan

Extra PS5 launch day stock isn’t likely due to “very considerable” demand for the console, PlayStation head Jim Ryan has declared.

Speaking with Reuters, Jim Ryan said demand for the PS5 has been “very, very considerable” since pre-orders first open. While he stressed that Sony is working hard to produce as many consoles as it can, “it may well be that not everybody who wants to buy a PS5 on launch day will be able to find one.”

Sony said it would provide consumers with advance notice of the time and date that pre-orders would go live, though that didn’t come to pass. Pre-orders went live on 17 September and were snapped up almost instantly.

The PS5 will be available from 12 November.
