Destiny 2 players have spent 25 years deleting unwanted shaders, it was recently calculated.
The rather sad milestone comes from Redditor SlickeryV, who calculated the figure at a rate of one shader deleted in one second. SlickeryV used a (now-deleted) post by Bungie that stated users have deleted 807,635,124 shaders to date. The precise figure? 25.6 years wasted.
Shaders were fundamentally changed between Destiny and Destiny 2 — rather than a universal unlock, shaders became finite commodities, with one shader unlocking a change in colour on one piece of Guardian armour, weaponry, Ghost, Sparrow or ship.
While it’s a royal pain to have to delete unwanted shaders one-by-one — especially to relieve an already crowded, exceptionally small personal inventory — Destiny 2 players will soon leave this problem behind. Bungie has promised a mass deletion tool and a Vault expansion as part of a pre-Forsaken update. Expect that update later this month.
Destiny 2 is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4. Destiny 2 Forsaken heads to those same platforms in early September. Right now, players can grind the Solstice of Heroes event for a shot at 400 Power armour.
