Destiny 2 Guide: How to upgrade Solstice of Heroes armour

We’re smack dab in the middle of Destiny 2‘s Solstice of Heroes event, and wanted to help out Guardians with the steps needed to level up the game’s special event armour.

Here’s all you need to know.

How to start Solstice of Heroes and get the special armour

If you’re not sure what to do to start Solstice of Heroes, head over to the Tower and interact with the large statue that’s been set up between the Postmaster and Cryptarch. You’ll be transported in time to a Tower that is bountiful ahead of the Red War; there, interact with Ikora to launch the Redux version of Homecoming, Destiny 2‘s first mission.

The mission’s rather tough, with orange-barred enemies and sections that require you to wipe out all enemies before progressing. Make use of Heavy ammo spawns and hang back for the most part, picking enemies off with scouts and snipers.

That mission done, you’ll be taken back to the Tower. Interact with the statue again to receive your special Scorched armour (and you can always grab it again here if you accidentally break it down). This is also your portal to unlock Memories of Triumph tasks.

If you want the special armour for each of Destiny 2‘s classes — Titan, Hunter and Warlock — you’ll need to go through the above process once with each character.

Things to know before you start the grind

  • First, this is a grind. You’ve got to commit to grinding throughout the month, Guardians. No bones about it.
  • For elemental orb collection, we’ve found it’s easiest to focus on one element at a time. Pick weapons with that element. Set your super to that element. Then, blast away at enemies. Orbs will drop like regular orbs of light, but will be coloured according to your element. Grab all the orbs you can — they’re precious.
  • While super multikills tend to drop orbs, we’ve found that supers against orange-barrred enemies drop more. Your Fireteam will also drop elemental orbs that you can collect.
  • To drop elemental orbs you need to be wearing the complete armour set.
  • For other, objective-based items, you only need to be wearing the armour bit that requires it. For example, if you need to collect 30 super kills in the Crucible for your Titan legs, you only need to wear your leg piece in the Crucible.

How to upgrade your Scorched armour (240 Power) to Rekindled armour (340 Power)

To upgrade your armour, you’ll need to complete three tasks with each piece of armour. Not only that, but you’ll need to have competed each piece’s tasks before you’re able to upgrade the entire set.

To start the Redux missions detailed below, look around the big statue at the Tower, to the left, right and back of it — around the Tower’s walkway — are mini-statues similar to the one you activated with Ikora right at the start.

Got that? Good. Now here’s what you’ll need to do, per class.
