How to use Pokemon Let’s Go to get Meltan in Pokemon Go

2

Pokemon Let’s Go is out now on Switch and will help you obtain the new Pokemon Meltan inside Pokemon Go on iOS and Android. Here’s how to do it.
Update: Pokemon Go currently offers a quest called “Let’s GO, Meltan” which will also offer up the chance to redeem Meltan. More Candies all around!

How to get Meltan in Pokemon Go

Inside Pokemon Go

  • You’ll need to transfer at least one Pokémon — any Pokémon — into Pokémon Let’s Go’s Go Park. Find instructions on how to do so here.
  • By doing so, you’ll be issued a Mystery Box in Pokémon Go. It’s basically incense that causes Meltan to spawn for 30 minutes after activation. Make sure you’ve got a solid 30 minutes of Pokémon catching time available before you use it!
  • Catch a bunch of Meltans — you’ll need 400 Meltan Candies to evolve the Pokémon into Melmetal.

How to evolve Meltan into Melmetal

As we said above, you’ll need 400 Meltan Candies to evolve it into Melmetal. Here’s the problem, though — you can only get 1 Mystery Box per week, so there’s a bit of grinding involved. Transfer one Pokémon from Go into Let’s Go to get the Mystery Box each week and catch away.

You can also earn Meltan Candies during the week by making Meltan your Pokemon Go buddy and walking with him. To do so inside Pokémon Go:

  • Click on the picture of your Trainer in the bottom left of the screen.
  • Click on your Buddy Pokémon.
  • Hit the arrow button in the bottom right of the screen.
  • Switch to Meltan and confirm.

FAQS

  • Can I transfer Meltan (and/or Melmetal) back into Pokémon Let’s Go?
    • Yes, but remember that transfers work one way — once you’ve sent Meltan or Melmetal into Let’s Go, you can’t bring it back into Go.
  • Can I evolve Meltan in Let’s Go?
    • It doesn’t appear so — you’ll need to grab Candies in Go itself.

Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee is available on Nintendo Switch and Pokémon Go is available on iOS and Android.
