Xbox One July 2018 update adds FastStart, Groups and more

The Xbox One July 2018 update is rolling out to all users, offering FastStart, Groups and more.

First, FastStart is a service announced at E3 2018. It allows players to download games and begin playing them twice as fast as before, “after downloading just a fraction of [the title].”

While this sounds great, the feature is only available for “select English language titles in [the] Xbox Game Pass catalog,” though will be expanding over time.

Next, Groups are now available to users. Like the Pins feature, players can now group up pieces of My Games & Apps under an organisational style that makes sense to them.

“You can also assign custom names to each Group, organize and order them, and add individual Groups to Home,” Microsoft advised. “Groups will appear across My Games & Apps, Home and Guide, so you’ll be able to access your Groups at a moment’s notice. Best of all, Groups are tied to your Xbox Live account, so they will automatically sync across multiple Xbox One consoles.”

Other new enhancements as part of the update are as follows:

  • More Search Options
  • Mixer Share Controller Improvements
  • Full Screen Broadcasting on Mixer
