Xbox Game Studios head reportedly steps down ahead of Xbox “reset”

Craig Duncan has been in his role since October 2024.

Xbox Game Studios head Craig Duncan has reportedly stepped down from his role ahead of what Xbox itself has labelled a “reset”.

The report comes from The Game Business, which also states that Xbox Game Studios chief of staff, Louise O’Connor, will be stepping down as well. The outlet suggests that Xbox Game Studios’ development teams, including Halo Studios, The Coalition, and more, will report directly to Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty.

Duncan assumed the role of head of Xbox’s studios back in October 2024. Prior to his appointment, Duncan served as studio head of Rare.

Last week, Xbox head Asha Sharma, alongside Booty, detailed plans for an Xbox “reset”, with further reports suggesting the strategy would come with a host of layoffs.
