Watch: PS4 2.50 firmware beta testing shows loading up a suspended game is pretty quick

We’ve heard about PlayStation 4’s upcoming 2.50 firmware update and the beta testing that’s currently going on. We know it will bring a host of new features to the console, but one that’s high up on the list is the ability to suspend games and then start them again from where a player left off. The suspend feature was announced alongside the console and allows players to put the console into rest mode, suspending the game at the point the player was up to. Upon powering up the console agani, the player will be returned tot he same point in the suspended game. It’s a feature that’s been available for Xbox One since launch. A YouTube user posted a video showing a PS4 running the beta version of the firmware take about 15 seconds to boot Grand Theft Auto V up from rest mode. The video has since been removed, but another beta tester has posted a video to Vimeo which you can see below.

The time from power on to playing is really quite quick when you consider how long it usually takes to get into a game upon powering up your console. The suspend feature is part of update 2.50 which is currently in beta testing. A release date has not been announced at this stage.
