Sony shuts down Concrete Genie studio PixelOpus

Say it ain't so!

Sony has shut down PixelOpus, the studio behind titles including Concrete Genie and Entwined.

“Dear friends, our PixelOpus adventure has come to an end,” the studio wrote on Twitter.

“As we look to new futures, we wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to the millions of passionate players who have supported us, and our mission to make beautiful, imaginative games with heart,” it continued. “We are so grateful!”

The studio will be shuttered by 2 June, Sony confirmed with Engadget.

“PlayStation Studios regularly evaluates its portfolio and the status of studio projects to ensure they meet the organization’s short and long-term strategic objectives,” Sony said in a statement. “As part of a recent review process, it has been decided that PixelOpus will close on June 2.”

We awarded Concrete Genie the honour of best PS4 exclusive in our GOTY Awards back in 2019.
