Sony on EA Access: It’s not good value

EA Access, the subscription service that acts like PlayStation Plus for EA games, isn’t heading to PlayStation. According to Sony, it’s because the service isn’t good value.

“We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect,” a Sony representative said to Game Informer.

“PlayStation Plus memberships are up more than 200 percent since the launch of PlayStation 4, which shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price,” the rep continued. “We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer.”

EA Access will be available on Xbox One for $6.99 AUD a month. It currently provides access to Peggle 2, Battlefield 4, Madden NFL 25 and FIFA 14.
