The PlayStation Game Pass competitor could be announced next week

Get your wallets ready!

A PlayStation Game Pass competitor could be announced as early as next week, a new report from Bloomberg has suggested.

The outlet says the service, essentially a combination of Sony’s current PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now services — codenamed Spartacus — could be detailed “as soon as next week”.

Moreover, the PlayStation Game Pass competitor will launch with a lineup of “hit games from recent years.”

Rumours from late last year suggested that Sony’s new offering will provide the chance to subscribe to multiple tiers. Essentially, the first tier is like PlayStation Plus now, the second is like Sony’s PlayStation Plus Collection and the highest-tier is something closer to Xbox Game Pass in its current form, offering up cloud-based gaming and access to a back catalog of PlayStation games spanning generations.
