PS5 Pro specs leak, boast 33.5 teraflops

SO many teraflops.

PS5 Pro specs have reportedly leaked and reveal a mid-cycle console refresh that’ll boast 33.5 teraflops.

The leaked specs are courtesy Moore’s Law is Dead over on YouTube, and have been corroborated by outlets including Insider Gaming and IGN. According to the specs, the PS5’s CPU will remain the same, though sports a High CPU Frequency Mode which should provide about 10% more power.

The PS5 Pro will also feature a boost to system memory and its GPU. The GPU will offer up PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling (PSSR), anti-aliasing tech, an AI Accelerator, and custom machine learning architecture.

Proper specs are as follows:

  • GPU: 33.5 teraflops (up an estimated 45%)
  • CPU: 3.85GHz, up 10% using High CPU Frequency Mode
  • Memory: 576 GB/s (18GT/s), up 28% from 448GB/s (14GT/s)

Though different AMD architecture makes it hard to directly compare the PS5 and PS5 Pro, the original PS5 boasts 10.28 teraflops. IGN reports that a direct comparison would be more akin to 10.28 teraflops (PS5) versus 16 or 17 teraflops (PS5 Pro).

Just like the new PS5 Slim SKU, the Pro will provide 1TB of onboard storage and the option of a detachable disc drive.

While this all sounds impressive, the elephant in the room is that this powerful machine mightn’t have a lot of powerful games to play; Sony itself has said it won’t release any first-party titles on PS5 until March 2025.

It’s speculated that Sony will launch the PS5 Pro in the second half of 2024.
