New PS5 logo shown at CES 2020

At Sony’s CES 2020 press conference, the new PS5 logo was shown alongside news of the existing PS4 and PlayStation VR platforms and the PlayStation Network itself.

“One month ago, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the PlayStation brand,” Ryan began before confirming that 106 million PS4 systems had been sold to consumers alongside 1.15 billion PS4 games. PlayStation VR has sold through 5 million units worldwide, according to Ryan.

Ryan also confirmed that 103 million monthly users are active on the PlayStation Network alongside a PlayStation Plus subscriber base of 38.8 million users.

As for the PS5 itself, Ryan reminded those at the press conference of details previously confirmed: the next-gen console will feature 3D audio sound, a controller with haptics and adaptive triggers, an ultra-high speed SSD, hardware-based ray tracing and an ultra HD Blu-ray drive.

Ryan concluded by confirming that more PS5 news will be revealed in the months to come; we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
