Microsoft stops production of the Xbox Kinect Adapter

Microsoft has taken another step to making Kinect a thing of the past, confirming it has stopped manufacturing of the Xbox Kinect Adapter.

“After careful consideration, we decided to stop manufacturing the Xbox Kinect Adapter to focus attention on launching new, higher fan-requested gaming accessories across Xbox One and Windows 10,” a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed with Stevivor.

This means the adapter, necessary to connect a Kinect to Xbox One S or Xbox One X, will only be available in retail stores while existing stocks last or via second-hand vendors.

In October 2017, Microsoft confirmed that it would cease manufacture of the Kinect itself, and that the Xbox Kinect Adapter wouldn’t be bundled with the Xbox One X. This appears to be the final step in putting Kinect to bed.
