The Xbox One X won’t be offering a free Kinect adapter

The Xbox One X will not offer a free Kinect adapter like its predecessor, the Xbox One S.

Microsoft’s Aaron Greeenberg took to Twitter to confirm the news.

The Xbox One X does not have a dedicated Kinect port and will therefore need a Kinect-to-USD adapter to function. When Microsoft released the Xbox One S, this adapter could be obtained for free. Sadly, it’s not the case with the 4K-capable beast.

That said, we’ve disconnected our Kinects a while ago — do you still use yours? The peripheral was bundled with original Xbox One consoles, then offered as an optional add with the console, and then basically scrapped before the release of the Xbox One S.

The Xbox One X heads to stores on 7 November. Stay tuned for more coverage as we get closer and closer to that release date.
