Microsoft makes 10-year offer of Call of Duty on PlayStation, Nintendo

And Steam releases too.

Microsoft is doubling down on platform choice as rumours of US FTC action on its planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard swirl, committing to keep Call of Duty on both PlayStation and Nintendo consoles for 10 full years.

Last month, The New York Times reported that Microsoft offered PlayStation a 10-year deal to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation consoles (likely the PS6 by the time the deal ends).

This month, Xbox head Phil Spencer has taken to Twitter to offer the same deal for whatever next-gen (and beyond?) consoles Nintendo will offer to consumers.

Microsoft has entered into a 10-year commitment to bring Call of Duty to [Nintendo] following the merger of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard King,” Spencer wrote. “Microsoft is committed to helping bring more games to more people – however they choose to play.”

In a follow-up tweet, Spencer continued to say that, “I’m also pleased to confirm that Microsoft has committed to continue to offer Call of Duty on [Steam] simultaneously to Xbox after we have closed the merger with Activision Blizzard King.”

We’ll keep you informed as the situation progresses.
