Maybe wait a week to buy Starfield on PS5 so its crashing issues are patched

"We’re aware of some reported PS5 crashing issues and have narrowed them down to a small number of causes."

Bethesda has acknowledged that Starfield is crashing quite frequently on PS5, and has promised a patch in the next week or so to stabilise it.

First, players took to Reddit to complain of Starfield‘s performance, with some calling the title “unplayable”. A host of players detailed crashes, freezes, and problems saving.

Yesterday, Bethesda acknowledged these issues, stating, “we’re aware that some players are experiencing crashes on PS5. The dev team has narrowed this down to a small number of issues and is working on a hotfix that we’re aiming to release this week.

“In the meantime, a few community‑shared workarounds may help while we finish the fix. Thanks, as always, for reporting and sharing details.”

We’ll update this post when Starfield‘s PS5 update is available. Until then, you might want to hold off on a purchase.

Starfield is available on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and now PS5. We reviewed it here.
