Halo Infinite campaign gameplay kicks off showcase

Halo Infinite campaign gameplay kicked off the Microsoft first-party games showcase, giving us our first real look at the upcoming title.

A playthrough of the demo seemed to lean into open-world aspects, showing the Master Chief and the companion that featured in last year’s E3 announcement crash landing onto a surface. The Chief headed out, and it’s here we saw a mini-map marked with objectives.

As teased, The Banished seem to serve as Halo Infinite‘s major antagonists; hope you like Brutes. Moreover, the rumoured grappling hook made its appearance. All up, we’re getting some major Halo Combat Evolved vibes from the presentation (as desired from the looks of it).

“Fans of the Master Chief around the world got a first-ever look at Halo Infinite’s campaign, featuring new gameplay mechanics, bigger battles, epic vistas and more complex visual effects than ever before, utilizing the full power of Xbox Series X,” Microsoft said of the title.

“With a flawless 60 frames per second locked for campaign gameplay, and the freedom to explore a Halo ring that is several times larger than the last two Halo games combined, Halo Infinite will immerse players in the next chapter of the Master Chief’s journey.”

Moreover, Halo Infinite is now up on Steam for wishlisting.

Halo Infinite is expected this holiday season alongside the Xbox Series X — it will be available on that next-gen platform alongside Xbox One and PC, part of the Xbox Game Pass program.
