Halo Infinite leaks — accurate or not — are coming fast and furious

A major Halo Infinite reveal will take place later this week, and that means a host of Halo Infinite leaks — seemingly “fake” or otherwise — are coming out of the woodworks.

This post will report upon said leaks now; if you don’t wish to find out about them, turn away now.

The biggest leak in question reports that Halo Infinite will make persistent use of a grappling hook, with a single screenshot used as proof. According to 343’s Frank O’Connor, the image is from Forge and “doesn’t show anything meaningful and isn’t even necessarily content from Infinite.”

O’Connor continued on to say that sometimes items like the hook “[are] just test environments or cut outs of H5 prototyping work… and sometimes just stuff from dev that we decided doesn’t constitute anything meaningful or meaningful intended to ship.”

All that above, though? That was from back in February. Flash-forward to this week and Halo Insider Klobrille says the hook is back in.

“The leak is still fake,” the user wrote on ResetEra, rather contradictorily. “Grappling hook is in as to my limited knowledge, but it’s more like an equipment pick-up similar to Halo 3. No idea how that is included in campaign.

Halo Infinite Arena is all about going back to classic map control gameplay (power weapons and power-ups),” the user continued. “There are a lot of cool things to complement the sandbox. Grapple hook, thrust or classics like overshield. All this is very dynamic and might vary heavily based on playlist etc, of course. But more on all that at a later date.”

An Xbox Series X first-party showcase is set for 2am AEST on Friday, 24 July, so hopefully we’ll get some definitive answers on what to expect from Halo Infinite then.
