God of War Ragnarok screenshots have leaked online

Spoilers can have me, when they earn me.

In what seems to be an all too common occurrence in the lead up to big PlayStation exclusives, God of War Ragnarok leaks are in the wild.

In a surprising twist of events, the leaks don’t appear to have come from malicious hackers or disgruntled employees. It looks like the Twitter account of someone with a review code has been auto publishing screenshots from a linked Playstation Network profile.

More than 30 screenshots were published and later removed. They look to contain significant narrative and gameplay spoilers.

At the time of writing this, PlayStation have not responded to the leaks. The team at Sony Santa Monica may have, albeit in a reply to a cryptic Cory Barlog tweet that may or may not be related.

This is the latest in a long running stream of leaks for major titles over the past few years including The Last of Us Part 2, GTA 6 and most recently A Plague Tale: Requiem.

In keeping with our ethos of not being total dicks, Stevivor will not be publishing links or images of the spoilers here. This is more of a PSA that you should be careful in the lead up to the games release if you want to avoid the leaks.

God of War Ragnarok is set to release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in a few weeks on 9 November. We’ll have post-release coverage of the game coming as a result of our current standing with Sony Australia.

Update: Spoilers are running rampant after a retailer has allegedly started to sell copies of Ragnarok ahead of its release date.

Sony Santa Monica’s Cory Barlog took to social media with the claim, saying it was “disappointing” that “a retailer” was “selling the game nearly TWO WEEKS before release.”

The studio followed suit with a statement of its own.

“As we approach launch, it is important for our studio to preserve the experience of God of War Ragnarok for players who want to enjoy the game for the first time without spoilers,” it began.

“We ask that you please be considerate of the many fans who do not want to accidentally see clips, gameplay, or narrative spoilters and avoid sharing them wider.

“We are doing our best to limit the exposure of unsanctioned footage and screenshots, but the reality is that we cannot catch everything,” Santa Monica Studio continued.
