Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut coming (at a cost) in August

No free upgrades for us.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut has been confirmed for a 20 August on both PS4 and PS5. Moreover, upgrading from the existing PS4 version of the game to its PS5 DC equivalent will get gamers back $30 USD.

“This new edition comes packed not only with the original game and every piece of additional content we’ve sold to date, but a brand-new adventure for Jin alongside a bunch of new features,” said Sucker Punch’s Andrew Goldfarb.

New content comes in the form of Iki Island, a new location with a new story attached to it.

“In this new story, Jin travels to the island to investigate rumors of a Mongol presence,” Goldfarb continued. “But soon, he finds himself caught up in events with deeply personal stakes that will force him to relive some traumatic moments from his past.”

Sucker Punch has promised more on this new story aspect ahead of release.

PS5 improvements include Japanese cutscene lip-synching, 3D audio, improved loading times and both 4K and 60FPS options.

Progression between PS4 to PS5 will also be offered. That said, players who already own Ghost of Tsushima will have to pay to upgrade — $20 USD is required to upgrade from PS4 to the PS4 Director’s Cut, with an additional $10 USD to upgrade from PS4 DC to PS5 DC. We’re working on local upgrade pricing now.

A free update will also be available to those wanting to take advantage of in-game improvements but who aren’t as keen on the new story content.

If you’re buying the game for the first time, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be priced at $99.95 AUD for PS4 and $114.95 AUD for PS5.
