Fable delayed again as Xbox cowers under GTA 6

The remake moves to February 2027 with Microsoft blaming a "year... packed with incredible games."

Fable has been delayed yet again, this time to February 2027, with Xbox blaming a “year… packed with incredible games” that of course includes Grand Theft Auto 6.

In a new statement, Microsoft detailed a number of video games releasing in 2026 in its reasoning for the delay.

“This year is packed with incredible games for Xbox players go enjoy, from Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 to Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Grand Theft Auto VI,” the statement begins.

“In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we’re moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves,” Microsoft continued.

Microsoft has confirmed we’ll get a new look at Fable as part of its 8 June Xbox Games Showcase, alongside its “broader lineup”. That livestream will also feature a dedicated segment for the aforementioned Gears of War E-Day.

Fable was announced back in 2020 and was originally expected in 2025. It was delayed to this year, and now to February 2027. It’s planned for Windows PC, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X, also available through Xbox Game Pass.
