Death Stranding Director’s Cut is the wrong name, says Kojima

Delector's Plus it is?

Hideo Kojima has taken to Twitter to say that Death Stranding Director’s Cut on PS5 should instead be titled Death Stranding Delector’s Plus.

Kojima started a Twitter thread by explaining the definition of the phrase “director’s cut” before concluding that it didn’t suit his latest game.

“A director’s cut in a movie is an additional edit to a shortened version that was either released reluctantly because the director did not have the right to edit it, or because the running time had to be shortened,” he wrote.

“In the game, it is not what was cut, but what was additionally produced that was included. Delector’s Plus? So, in my opinion, I don’t like to call ‘director’s cut’.”

Despite Kojima’s preference, Director’s Cut it is; the current-gen version of the original PS4 game will include new content and in-game bonus items alongside faster loading times and the like. Those who already own the game on PS4 can upgrade to the PS5 Director’s Cut for$10 USD.

Death Stranding is currently available on Windows PC and PS4; Director’s Cut heads to PS5 on 24 September.
