Bungie delivers its own "somehow, Palpatine returned" line amidst 71 pages of patch notes.
Destiny 2 will end active development with Monument of Triumph on 9 June, and with that comes two lines that wrap up its chaotic storyline.
“What was unravelling is suddenly stabilising,” says Ikora Rey, kicking off a new trailer seen below. “Earth may yet heal, and that’s something worth celebrating.”
While Bungie has done its best to pull out all the stops when it comes to the essential closure of Destiny 2 — noting that a total of 71 pages of patch notes will come alongside the game’s last update — it’s also quick to point out that a narrative resolution is not truly part of the deal.
Those looking for closure will be able to find small bits in the final update that “will deliver small character beats to leave the story and characters in interesting places, touching on themes across Destiny,” Bungie said, encouraging Guardians to get “reading and exploring to find all the easter eggs, callbacks, reveals, and love for the lore hounds.”
As for what that means in-game? The Traveller is back above The Last City, SRL racing returns, and Xivu Arath and Savathun remain hidden yet very much alive and able to wreak havoc if Destiny ever continues. I think; Destiny 2‘s story had me confused years ago.
Destiny 2 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5; it will remain playable following its final update.
