Destiny 2 Shadowkeep detailed, coming in September

Destiny 2 Shadowkeep was today detailed by developer Bungie ahead of E3 2019.

Details of Shadowkeep were made alongside confirmations of a free-to-play version of the game, cross-save support and Stadia availability. Right now, though, let’s get into the expansion.

Release date and setting

Scheduled for a 17 September release, Shadowkeep is indeed set on Earth’s Moon.

“New Nightmares have emerged from the shadows of our forgotten Moon,” Bungie said, describing the new expansion. “Called forth by haunting visions from her tormented past, Eris Morn has returned and unleashed something that once slumbered beneath the lunar surface – a long dormant power even she cannot control. Return to the Moon. Journey deep into a mysterious enemy citadel. Help Eris slay these nightmares before they reach out beyond the Moon to cast humanity back into an age of darkness.”

You read that right: Eris Morn will finally feature in Destiny 2. She’ll likely be the one directing you to a new Raid that will take place in the fabled Black Garden.

Shadowkeep will be a standalone expansion, meaning you won’t be required to buy other expansions to play it. Coupled with Destiny 2‘s new free-to-play version, you could jump in for relatively cheap.

Special editions and pre-orders

In addition to regular offerings, a couple special editions will be available.
