Crackdown 3 star Terry Crews is under fire for comments he’s made over same-sex parents and their ability to raise children.
“I’ve reiterated many times that same-sex couples and single parents can successfully raise a child,” Crews tweeted. “But I believe paternal AND maternal love are like vitamins and minerals to humanity.”
When another Twitter user told Crews that a child “will not starve” with same-sex parents, Crews fired back with, “but they will be severely malnourished.”
Crews later deleted the exchange (in full above) and later posted a tweet with an anti-bullying theme after being accused of homophobia.
“You apparently thought I was your puppet. But I have a mind of my own, and can see and think very clearly,” he wrote. “The ‘phobic’ tag is the most feared public tag next to racist. I don’t fear it because I am neither.”
Crews later returned to Twitter to apologise.
“It was the wrong choice of words in response to another tweet. I apologize,” he wrote. “The tweet was deleted.”
I agree. It was the wrong choice of words in response to another tweet. I apologize. The tweet was deleted. https://t.co/5oZF4pjZh1

To his credit, this whole exchange seems out of character for Crews, who’s previously taken to Twitter to criticise former Oscar host Kevin Hart over homophobic remarks and to tell his own story of sexual assault in support of the #MeToo movement.
Crews currently is featured in Crackdown 3, available now on Windows PC and Xbox One.
