Bubsy is coming back to Nintendo (and PS4 and PC) in 2019

Bubsy the Bobcat is coming out of hiatus, for the second time, with his sixth game, Bubsy: Paws on Fire, announced for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.

Created as an answer to Nintendo’s Mario and Sega’s Sonic, Bubsy’s first game, Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind, found a faithful audience on SNES in 1993, and later MegaDrive and PC.

Bubsy 2 followed in 1994, also coming to Game Boy, to critical acclaim. As you would expect, it all went downhill on PlayStation in 1996 with Bubsy 3D — the death sentence for many great 16-bit series.

Bubsy came out of retirement in 2017, with the rather poor Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back on PS4 and PC, which is currently sitting at 44/100 on Metacritic.

So this isn’t Bubsy first comeback, but considering his SNES roots, it is his grand return to a Nintendo platform for the first time since 1994. Hopefully we will get something closer to those original SNES games when Bubsy returns in 2019.
