Best-selling digital games on PlayStation twice as popular as on Xbox

A report from SuperDataResearch has revealed that the top selling digital games on PlayStation platforms outperform those on Xbox 2:1.

In January alone, of the top 10 selling digital console games, 63% of revenue was generated by PlayStation and 37% by Xbox. Of that 63%, 43% was from PS4 and 20% from PS3.

This data doesn’t account for all digital sales though, but is rather focused on the top 10 selling digital games in the period. PC, Nintendo and mobile digital sales were not included in the figures. The top 10 selling games for January can be seen in the image below.

The report notes that the US accounts for half of the total revenue generated by digital sales of the top 10 games, with “large gaming markets like China have had little impact on the distribution of console game sales.” According to the report, Dying Light “had 81% of its digital sales coming from America.”
