Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox patch fixes stability issues

Yay!

A new Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox patch should fix some stability issues that are being encountered by new players, developer Larian said.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was not only the Game Awards 2023 Game of the Year, but a stealth drop on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X at the same time. In fact, it was so stealthy that Larian actually forgot to mention availablity during the Game Awards themselves.

“I had one job and that was to announce this if we won an award – sorry all but happy it’s out there,” Larian’s Swen Vincke said on social media following the awards show.

Those on Xbox who’ve since booted up the game have been reporting that the game will crash frequently, sometimes as early on as the game’s menu. Today, some — if not all (?) — of that should be resolved.

“Xbox players, we’ve pushed a small update to Baldur’s Gate 3 containing stability fixes,” Larian said today. “We’re aware of the issue of saves disappearing after a crash. An update is available from Xbox to help with some of these issues, please manually update your Xbox through the system menu.”

Others have suggested that unlinking your Larian account from your in-game Baldur’s Gate 3 menu will resolve some crashes; it’s worth a shot if you’ve had problems (I know I did).

If you’ve been playing, let us know how your Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox experience has been so far.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5.
