Assassin’s Creed Odyssey patch adds 60FPS support to current-gen

A big performance boost is on the way for Xbox Series S/X and PS5 players.

An Assassin’s Creed Odyssey patch is coming to the game today and introduces the ability to run it at 60FPS on Xbox Series S & X and PS5 via backwards compatibility.

Originally released in 2018, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was mostly well received by fans and critics alike. Set in Ancient Greece during 431 BCE, the game has you playing through the secrets of the Peloponnesian War. As many come to expect with an Assassin’s Creed title, the game has a beautiful historical setting.

Odyssey also marked the first AC title to really lean into an RPG style — while Ubisoft did hint at RPG elements in predecessor Assassin’s Creed Origins, Odyssey brought them to the forefront. A choice that was a much needed breath of fresh air for the 11th main instalment in the series.

The upcoming patch will require a bit of space in order to add the 60FPS capabilities, coming it at around 370MB on Xbox or 470MB on PlayStation.

The patch marks a nice surprise for AC fans, a show that Odyssey is still receiving support. An especially unexpected development given Assassin Creed Valhalla’s release last year. However, this update might be a good chance for those who missed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey the first time round to give the game a go now.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Title Update 1.6.0 heads to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at approximately 4.00 pm AEST today, 24 August.
