Android apps head to Windows 11 in February 2022 public preview

It's almost time...

Android apps will head to Windows 11 as part of a public preview that’s set to take place in February 2022.

Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer of Windows and Devices, Panos Panay, teased the functionality as part of a new blog post.

“Next month we’re bringing new experiences to Windows that include a public preview of how you can use Android apps on Windows 11 through the Microsoft Store and our partnerships with Amazon and Intel, taskbar improvements with call mute and unmute, easier window sharing and bringing weather to the taskbar, plus the introduction of two new redesigned apps, Notepad and Media Player,” Panay wrote.

As revealed back in June 2021 alongside news of Windows 11 itself, Microsoft has detailed plans to fully integrate Android apps into the Windows OS. Apps will be available inside the Microsoft Store through the Amazon Appstore, accessible through the Windows Start Menu when downloaded. For more, head here.

If you’re keen to try out Android apps inside Windows 11, you’ll likely have to sign up as a Windows Insider. For more on that, you can look here.
