Steam Deck release date set for 28 February (not in Australia)

Good news for the US, the UK, Canada and Europe...

The Steam Deck release date has been set for 28 February in non-Australian regions including the US, the UK, Canada and Europe, Valve has today confirmed.

Originally planned for a December 2021 release in those regions, Valve notified us of a delay to February 2022 back in November of last year.

Customers in soon-to-be-available regions were made to put down a $5 USD reservation fee to claim a Steam Deck; from 25 February, those lucky enough to secure a handheld console will be given the opportunity to do so, required to obviously pay the remainder of the unit’s cost. Users will only have that three-day window to do so before defaulting on their reservation.

Valve expects to begin sending emails from 10 am PT on 25 February, so make sure you’re checking your email’s inbox (and spam folder) if you’re expecting one.
