Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is bigger than the New 3DS memory card

Nintendo has announced that Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will not fit on a standard New Nintendo 3DS 4GB microSD card. Those wishing to purchase the game from the eShop will need their own 8GB or larger microSD.

Nintendo have been notoriously stingy with disk space in all of their systems, but one of the first exclusives for their New 3DS not fitting on the default microSD? That seems like a problem they could have avoided. It bodes well for the size and scope of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D that the game is so large, but if you have already shelled out for the New 3DS this is just another expense.

Those who wish to avoid the problem altogether can of course just buy the retail version when it hits shelves 2 April.
