At Gamescom, Microsoft advised they’ll soon roll out an Xbox One update that will allow for USB media playback and pre-loading of upcoming games.
Pre-loading will be available on specific games, at least initially. The first titles to use the functionality include FIFA 15, Forza Horizon 2 and Sunset Overdrive.
A new Media Player app will let users play content via USB or a home media network that supports DLNA. USB support will only be available at the player’s launch, with DLNA support to follow.
Media formats such as MPEG2, MKV and GIFs will be supported, with many more announced in the coming weeks.
We’ll let you know when you can expect these updates.
