Ubisoft files trademarks for its biggest franchises for television, stage and theme parks

Ubisoft has filed trademarks for some of its biggest franchises — Watch Dogs, Just Dance, Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry — which cover a wide range of live-action and other entertainment offerings.

Dualshockers uncovered the trademark filings which include “television programs and interactive television programs featuring comedy, drama, live-action, and animation, broadcast over television, satellite, audio, and video media; presentation of live stage show performances, presentation of live show performances by costumed characters, and presentation of live theatrical performances; production and distribution of motion pictures; arranging of contests; providing amusement park and theme park services; organizing, conducting and operating video game competitions and tournaments” and more.

The trademark filing for Assassin’s Creed was separate from the others and did not include television programming. We know that a film is in production and while the trademarks for each of these properties is likely just an exercise in locking down IP by Ubisoft, it may be that they have bigger plans for Assassin’s Creed cinematically.

Would you visit Far Cry-land or go see Just Dance The Musical?
