Ubisoft delays Skull and Bones (again), cancels three other games

Again?

The oft-delayed Skull & Bones has yet again been delayed by Ubisoft, which at the same time announced it had cancelled three other titles.

The news comes out of a financial results statement from the publisher, which summarised matters by saying it faced “major challenges as the industry continues to shift towards mega-brands and long-lasting titles.”

Ubisoft will depreciate around €500m of capitalised R&D and focus on “targeted restructuring, divesting some non-core assets and usual natural attrition” in an attempt to cause “long-term growth and value-creation prospects” within the company.

Furthermore, “increased cautiousness over the coming years” within the company means three unannounced titles also were put on the chopping block.

Skull & Bones, most recently expected in March 2023, has now been pushed back into “early” in the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
