Ubisoft, Bungie, Infinity Ward, more fundraising for Aussie bushfire relief

Three major players in the video game industry — Ubisoft, Bungie and Infinity Ward — have come out in support of Aussie bushfire relief.

Bungie’s Aussie bushfire relief fundraiser

First, Bungie will offer a limited-edition T-shirt which will fundraise for the NSW RFS and WIRES.

“We are developing a limited-edition T-shirt fundraising campaign to support both Australia’s firefighting efforts and the country’s animal rescue and conservation efforts,” a blog post detailed.

The T-shirt — which has yet to be finalised — will be available for purchase on the Bungie store from 4.00 am AEDT on 17 January and will be available until the end of the special Crimson Days in-game event. It also comes with the Star Light, Star Bright emblem, seen below.

Infinity Ward’s Aussie bushfire relief fundraiser

Infinity Ward and parent Activision will be donating all January 2020 proceeds from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s Outback Relief pack to Aussie bushfire relief.

“100% of Activision’s net proceeds from previous & future purchases of the Outback Relief pack through Jan 31 will be donated to help provide aid towards the devastating fires,” the official CoD Twitter account confirmed.

Ubisoft Australia Aussie bushfire relief donation

Ubisoft Australia took a different tack, donating $30,000 AUD to the Australian Red Cross Disaster and Recovery Relief Fund on behalf of itself and the players that support it.

“The bushfire crisis has devastated communities across the nation and the scenes of loss are heartbreaking,” Ubisoft Australia said on Twitter. “We’ve heard the calls requesting we create in-game items to encourage donations, however this takes considerable development time and we feel immediate action is required.”

Newfound Courage Aussie bushfire relief fundraiser

“From the swooping magpies of Silverpine to the red landscapes of Otherwhere, Newfound Courage is heavily inspired by our home, Australia,” Newfound Courage‘s Curtis Campion said on Twitter. “That’s why 100% of the revenue earned by the game in January will be donated to the ongoing recovery effort.”

There are undoubtedly more developers and publishers out there supporting Australia — if you’re aware of any, feel free to fire them off in the comments below.
