Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad to shut down in the wake of XDefiant

Did you see it coming?

Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad, a mobile title that mashes up Tom Clancy’s properties, will be shut down in the wake of news of the free-to-play Tom Clancy’s XDefiant, a similar concept coming to PC and consoles.

Servers will be shut down on 4 October 2021 and no new content will be created from today, a new blog post has advised.

“It is with a great deal of sadness that we are announcing we will no longer be releasing new content for Elite Squad. Today’s update will be our last, and on October 4th, 2021 we will shut the servers down,” it reads.

“This was not an easy decision, but after exploring multiple options with our teams, we came to the conclusion that it was no longer sustainable. We want to assure you all that we really gave it our best, especially with big updates like Season 2, and it was a truly rewarding experience to work with you, our passionate community!”

Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad is currently available on iOS and Android devices. Tom Clancy’s XDefiant is planned for Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5.
