The Witcher 3 gets new expansion, Songs of the Past, in 2027

Surprise!

CD Projekt Red today revealed that The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt will add a third expansion to the mix, Songs of the Past, in 2027.

“CD Projekt Red is co-developing the expansion with Fool’s Theory, a team comprising industry veterans who worked on The Witcher 3,” the studio said in a press release. “Songs of the Past will return players to the role of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia for a brand new adventure when it launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.”

More information about the expansion is expected in “late summer 2026”, which is likely July or August of this year.

The update also provided CD Projekt Red the opportunity to up system requirements on PC to “ensure smooth performance and compatibility going forward,” so expect more details on that later in the year as well.

Apart from the info below, we don’t know much more about the expansion; we’ll of course update you as we learn more.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, and Switch. Its current-gen update has been available since December 2023… which is fitting, as the expansion is only for those platforms.
