The voice of Sam Fisher teases a Splinter Cell comeback

Michael Ironside, the voice of Splinter Cell‘s Sam Fisher, has further fueled rumours surrounding a new game in the franchise.

Speaking with Inside Xbox, Ironside spoke of his longtime connection to Sam Fisher.

“I never left,” Ironside said. “I am Sam Fisher.”

Ironside will star as Fisher in Ghost Recon: Wildlands‘ Special Operation 1 update, and detailed how the character came to be.

“Sam was this one-line, two-dimensional character,” Ironside said. “There [were] no organics to him.”

Ironside worked with developer Ubisoft Montreal to flesh out the hero, using real-life experiences to do so.

“We created a backstory. We created a family [for him], and where he goes, and what he does, and who he trusts,” he said.

As far as rumours of a new Splinter Cell title, Ironside slyly said, “Let’s see if the storylines allow an organic [way to bring] Sam back.”

Ironside’s tease comes alongside rumours of a new Splinter Cell title after a listing for a new game appeared over on Amazon last month.

Fisher is now available inside Ghost Recon: Wildlands on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
