The Callisto Protocol dev lays off 32 employees

Things aren't looking great over at Striking Distance Studios...

The Callisto Protocol developer Striking Distance Studios has laid off 32 employees, it’s recently confirmed.

“Striking Distance Studios and [publisher] Krafton have implemented strategic changes that realign the studio’s priorities to better position its current and future projects for success,” the studio said in a statement to IGN. “Unfortunately, these changes have impacted 32 employees.”

“Honouring the invaluable contributions of each departing team member with material support in the form of outplacement services and meaningful severance packages is our top priority during this difficult moment,” Striking Distance continued.

Confirmed layoffs include VFX artist Matt Christopherson, associate level designer Thomas Catalano, associate producer Nora Falcon, level design assistant Justin Fields, production coordinator Sebastian Marlow and senior environment artist Matthew Smith.

Striking Distance Studios has previously made headlines by leaving “around 20” developers from The Callisto Protocol‘s credits. Prior to this, studio head Glen Schofield took to social media to praise a culture of crunch.

The Callisto Protocol is available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5.
