Stream your own Xbox games later this year

Finally.

The ability to stream your own titles via Xbox Cloud Streaming is coming later this year, two years after the feature was promised to be available to users.

Xbox head Phil Spencer took to social media to say that the ability to stream games you own “should be this year”, referring to 2024.

The functionality was first announced back in June 2022, with Microsoft saying the option to stream your own library would be enabled that same year.

“One of the things that [gamers] told us is, ‘hey, we would love to be able to stream games that we own, even if they’re not in the Game Pass catalog’,” Ashley McKissick, Corporate Vice President of Gaming Experience & Platform, said at the time.

“So later this year, if you are a Game Pass Ultimate member, you will be able to stream from the cloud games you purchase and games that you already own as long as they’re cloud-enabled in the catalog.”

The reason for the delay has not been detailed by Microsoft; we’ve reached out for comment.

We’ll let you know as this story develops. Those looking to take advantage of Xbox Game Streaming will need to be a subscriber of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
