SingStar Ultimate Party lets you use your smartphone as a mic on PS3, PS4

Sony is celebrating the 10th anniversary of SingStar with a new compilation disc that will be available on both PS3 and PS4.

The new version of SingStar, launching later this year, will let you use smartphones and tablets as microphones. All that’s needed is an accompanying iOS or Android app that will allow for the functionality.

The apps will do away with the need for USB microphones previously used in other versions of the SingStar franchise.

Other new features in the PS4 version of SingStar will include social media sharing and the ability to dress up clips of your own performance using the PS4 Camera.

SingStar is currently free-to-play, but users can access the SingStore to purchase and play additonal tracks. Songs are available singularly at $2.05 AUD or in packs of 5 for $9.55 AUD. The new SingStar compilation disc, SingStar Ultimate Party will be available on PS3 and PS4 for $39.95 AUD.

SingStar Ultimate Party will be available soon.
