Rumour: Bethesda filed a trademark for Fallout: New Orleans

Note the big ol’ “rumour” tag, because that’s all Bethesda’s reported trademark of Fallout: New Orleans is at the moment.

Discovered by NeoGAF user ekim, the name has apparently been trademarked in Europe. However, there is no offical registration information yet because the trademark is still under examination, and the logo looks suspiciously cobbled together.

While the two second MS Paint job logo is a red flag, it could be a placeholder, and a Fallout sequel as soon as 2017 following the success of 2015’s Fallout 4 isn’t unprecedented. If history is to repeat itself, it could be the next Fallout instalment from Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment.

Bethesda Softworks released Fallout 3 in 2008, which was followed by Obsidian’s New Vegas in 2010. The developer has most recently worked with publisher Paradox Interactive on Pillars of Eternity and the upcoming Tyranny. Before that it partnered with Ubsioft for South Park: The Stick of Truth, but isn’t making this year’s sequel — perhaps because it’s been working on another Fallout game.
