Pokemon Go story quests seem likely thanks to new update

A series of story quests will soon be added to Pokemon Go, if the report of dedicated dataminers is to be believed.

The datamine was performed by Silph Road, a group that’s proven successful in uncovering Pokémon Go‘s secrets to date. They report that version 0.91.1 for Android and 1.61.1 for iOS both show signs of the inclusion of these story quests.

Quests are said to have both short- and long-term goals, including interactions with NPCs like Professor Willow. Silph Road says these NPCs will be beefed up to display facial animations that correspond with how they react to your quest progress.

Developer Niantic has remained tight-lipped about quests, only including the following patch notes alongside the game’s newest update:

  • Improved the in-game News feature.
  • The Pokémon Collection search function now lets Trainers search using “Shiny.”
  • Various bug fixes and performance updates.

We’ll keep you informed as more is learned.

Pokémon Go is available now on iOS and Android devices.
