Rainbow Six Extraction gameplay, release date detailed

It's coming soon.

Rainbow Six Extraction kicked off Ubisoft Forward for 2021, detailing the game’s premise alongside Operators, its release date and more.

We also got a good look at Extraction’s antagonists, black, sludge-like beings called the Archaeans that seem to be part of a tiered hierarchy. Minions (our name) gave way for a menacing Apex (their name) as part of a cinematic, in-engine trailer.

Strikers, Reachers and “a lot more species” will be detailed in the coming weeks.

Ubisoft today confirmed that we’ll play as Operators from Rainbow Six Siege, each working together to stop alien threats within New York, San Francisco, Alaska and more.

Extraction will feature a risk-reward system in which Operators will become unavailable for a period of time if they’re downed in a mission.

Cross-play was also confirmed for the feature. Exclusive unlocks will also be offered to players in both Siege and Extraction, Ubisoft confirmed.

“Players who own and play both Rainbow Six Siege and Rainbow Six Extraction will instantly unlock the entire roster of 18 operators in Rainbow Six Siege, and players will receive the elite United Front cosmetic bundles in both games,” Ubisoft said in a press release.

Rainbow Six Extraction heads to Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5 on 16 September 2021. Head here for a hands-on preview from our very own Hamish Lindsay.
