More PS5 titles also available on PS4, including God of War Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7

Rejoice!

More PS5 titles will also be available on PS4, including both God of War Ragnarok and Gran Turismo 7.

PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst made the confirmation today on the PlayStation Blog.

“You can’t build a community of over 110 million PS4 owners and then just walk away from it, right? I think that’d be bad news for fans of PS4, and frankly not very good business,” Hulst said.

“Where it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5 — for Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7 — we’ll continue looking at that. And if PS4 owners want to play that game, then they can. If they want to go on and play the PS5 version, that game will be there for them.

“That being said, it’s also very important to have showpieces for PS5, hence the development of Returnal and Ratchet [& Clank Rift Apart] that are exclusive to PS5.”

Back in September 2020, Sony reversed a decision to release new titles exclusively to PS5, shifting titles like Spider-Man Miles MoralesHorizon Forbidden West and Sackboy A Big Adventure to PS4 alongside PS5.

Sony today confirmed that God of War Ragnarok would miss its 2021 launch window and will now be available in 2022.
